A Very Creative Proposal

"Pop, Pop, Pop," Goes The Question.

Yet another good friend of mine, Rosamund Scott, a girl from my church, is engaged!! No word yet on how her now-fiancé Caleb asked her or anything. But I'm so happy for her! Wow. I had heard a rumour that the two of them had talked about it, but I had no idea that it was going to happen so soon!

Rosamund is such a sweet, joyful girl and I am just thrilled to hear that she is now on her way to being a happily married lady hehe. I've known her for... I don't even know how many years. Her older sister Johanna was my mentor throughout highschool, and Rosamund was the camp councellor in my cabin when I was an intern at kids camp. The two sisters also are the leaders of the pre-teen youth group at my church, at which I serve.

There seriously is something in the water, though! Haha. Abbey-Shae, are you sure you don't want to take a sip?? HAHAHA. Just one eensy weensy sip?

My real question is, though, who is next? Dun dun duuuun!

So completely THRILLED!

Rosie is engaged! It just happened today! And she called me right away. It was so cute! :D They had gone out together today, and he had picked out a Celtic ring that she had previously mentioned she liked. (It had a really cute story that I'll write about another time.) They went out for dinner, and he went to the washroom, but he was taking a long time. He came back, and Rosie was thinking that he was going to propose, especially since they had talked about it a few days ago and she knew that he had asked her parents' permission. And also, he had a bulge in his pocket, which she figured was the ring! And it was. But he knew she was figuring it out, and so he secretly swapped the ring for his keys and some candy, so when she asked, he could show her the ring wasn't there. So, she was disappointed that he didn't propose. But they went home, and before they went in, he said something like, "I want to build a home with you" or something, and got down on one knee and asked her! Oh, it's so exciting. She and her (I was about to write boyfriend, but he's not anymore!) FIANCÉ Adam are thinking of getting married in October!
Rosie and some of her bridesmaids are tentatively thinking to meet up in the coming week to talk preliminary stuff, and look at dresses (the best part, of course). She is thinking of asking her sister to use her wedding dress and alter it a bit, because her sister once said that would be okay. She's also at the moment thinking of a burgandy colour scheme since it's a fall wedding. She also has 7 bridesmaids in mind, including Abbey-Shae and Leigha (and of course myself). Her other bridesmaids include her sister Lila, a mutual friend Marion, her friend Lacey, and another friend Jennifer.

Oh my GOODNESS. Guess who just phoned???? Shell! And GUESS WHAT. SHE'S ENGAGED. This is crazy!!! I'm sooo sooo sooo thrilled for both of them! For the friends who personally know Shell, don't go spreading it around quite yet. She said I can post it here, but there are still a few people she wants to personally tell and whatnot. It sounded so romantic, her proposal. Frank Austen brought her to where they first met, at my church, and walked around the path that is nearby, talking about different memories. And then he asked! Her ring is GORGEOUS. I'll post it later. So she and Frank Austen are thinking right now April or May for the wedding. She is also thinking of a dark red colour scheme! Love it! So happy for them!!!!

THIS IS JUST GETTING TO BE TOO MUCH. A good friend of mine who lives in another country JUST posted pictures of her engagement! This is literally crazy. I'm not making this up! It looks like it happened in a restaurant, from the pictures. This girl I know and her fiancé then participated in an illustration at their church to announce their engagement. He offered her a cup to drink from, and she drank from it, signifying her acceptance. Then he broke the glass, signifying that he will never offer the cup to anyone else again. Cute, isn't it? The pictures are so cute.
IS THERE SOMETHING IN THE WATER, THOUGH?!?!?!?! Seriously!!!!

In Other Wedding News...

Another engagement was announced recently on Facebook. I'm telling you, it's practically everyday that it's happening! This time, it's a girl I used to dance with. I'm so happy for her. She's pretty young (18, I think?), but seems so happy. I wish her the very best!

And also... apparently Shell went shopping for rings with Frank Austin the other day! Hmm... is another engagement in the air??? ;)

Put a Ring on it

I realized just the other day I didn't have any pictures of engagement rings on this blog yet. Quite peculiar. Perhaps this is because I view it as the man's job to pick out a ring so he can propose (I always do wonder how he knows your ring size haha), though I do think it's cute when a couple picks out a ring together. Anyways, here are a few from my travels around the internet. I should have written down where they're from, but I didn't. Bad me.

This first one is a very unconventional ring, but I really love it! It's unique and yet not too wacky, I think. And the ring below it could be for the groom. :)

Here is another slightly unconventional engagement ring, with a pearl in it. I really love pearls, though admittedly not on all rings. But I think this ring is really gorgeous.

Another pearl one that I like. It kind of reminds me of my mom's engagement ring for some reason, though I'm not sure why, because her's doesn't have a pearl in it at all. But what a beautiful ring.

One of the more 'standard' engagement rings. I like the simplicity of it, though. Very classy.

Another simple ring. I really like the circular cut of the diamond. Square ones just aren't my thing at all.

This is a slightly unique wedding ring - and it's two in one! (I'm pretty sure anyways!) One is the engagement ring and the other is the wedding ring.

This is a bit of a flashier ring, but I think it's really stunning. Though, I'm totally not expecting this kind of ring for when I get engaged. But it's still nice to look at! ;)

A Modest Proposal

Well it's sunny and beautiful for really the first time in a long time, here. Yay! I hope this sun stays. I hate the cold, rainy weather that my area gets throughtout a lot of the year.

But anyways. Did I tell you that someone I know just recently got engaged? It's so cute. I saw her engagement pictures on Facebook and they were so pretty! Which reminds me... I was looking up engagement stories online and some of them are just plain amazing! There was one where a guy had left the ring inside a rose and so the girl had to play "he loves me, he loves me not" to get the ring. And here's another one:

It had been one of those Mondays, I was finally home from work, and I find an envelope taped to the apartment door. Confused, I open up letter #1 or the beginning of a series of clues that will end in a life-changing event. There is a big black M with a handwritten note talking about the joys of living together, followed by clue #1, "a table we sat at very often when we first started dating eating free food." At this point, I am excited and nervous and, for the moment, not breathing. I take a few breaths and call my mom (Tyler had asked her permission to marry me three days ago). Letter/clue 2 will be found at the place I worked when we first started dating. We spent many nights there getting to know one another as we rolled silverware. The second letter has an A and talks about our awkward beginnings: I am Tyler’s one and only girlfriend, now fiancée. Clue #2 leads me to our favorite Mexican restaurant: the place we can always be found. Eventually, I find the waiter who has the next letter for me. This letter has an R with a note talking about how we are made for each other. Clue #3 is "I'll love you forever and like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be..." - an inside joke and quote from a Robert Munsch Book. I’m told to go to our college campus and look where I might find this book. I search the library and eventually find the fourth letter. This letter has another R and talks of making all of our dreams come true… together. Clue #4 sends me to the classroom where we had our first class together. Taped to the door, this letter has a Y and talks about how lucky we are to have found each other. Clue #5 sends me to an empty classroom, with a strategically-placed chair and projection screen. This last letter says,"ME?... have a seat." So putting it all together, it spells out Marry Me? I sit down in this dark classroom, thinking I’m alone, and our song starts playing as the background of this homemade movie, and I start crying when it reads "I went home to Louisville for Christmas; little did I know that the greatest present I would get that year was realizing I loved you." The music fades, and Tyler turns me to face him and gets down on one knee. He barely gets out, “I can’t live without you and I don’t want to spend another day thinking that you might not be mine for forever, will you be my lovebird and mate with me for life? Will you marry me? I respond "Yes," hug him, and cry even harder. It was the perfect proposal, everything and more than I thought it would be, the start of our happily ever after.

Cute or what? Haha, I laughed at "lovebird" but I thought it was just so sweet, and creative to do a scavenger hunt like that.
