It's an Inside Joke...

I'm talking to Shell online right now, and we've decided that her boyfriend's Super Secret Code Name will be Frank Austin.
Just thought you'd like to know. :)

Tuesday Night Ramblings.

It's been a while since I've updated. Not that it really matters, because it's not like I have millions of readers. But yeah. I'm back! (Actually, I'm not at home right now, so I can't upload any pictures or anything. So I'm semi-back.)
So my friend Shell came over today and guess what cropped up in our conversation? Do I even have to say? ... Well, she has just been asked to be a bridesmaid in one of her friends' wedding, and I am SO excited. I know this friend of hers (though, not well- but I know who she is) and I am just really excited for all the planning and everything that Shell will be a part of. I even told her that I'd help her in any way she needed- whether making invites or thinking of different ideas- the bride will never know haha. Shell can just say she came up with these ideas herself hehe. ;)
See, I told you I'm a wedding-a-holic.
Sigh. And yet my wedding is probably eons away. That's ok. I take great delight in planning and thinking of weddings, no matter whose they are. Maybe I should think of becoming a wedding planner instead of a teacher... Haha.
The closest wedding of my best friends is Shell's herself. She has been going out with her boyfriend forever and I am just waiting until he pops the question so I can formally help her plan the wedding. Unfortunately, she told me it's not going to happen for a variety of reasons until around 2011... Sigh. (I shall have to give her boyfriend a secret code name, too, because I'm sure I will refer to him a lot, since his and Shell's wedding is the only one that actually seems- as distant as it is- to be happening. I mean, I'm single, Leigha's single, Abbey-Shae's single, Acacia's single. Sydnee is dating someone, but she and her boyfriend are not getting married for a long time, either, due to various reasons, again.)
So yeah. Shell!!! Get married soon!!! Just so I can help you plan!!! Haha. Oh dear me.

I love weddings. :)

Save the Last Dance

So I'm just talking to my friend Leigha right now, and we're talking about... guess what! Weddings!! And we're talking about how she'd love to have her first dance be to the song "It's Your Wedding Day" from The Wedding Singer, which her high school made a production of when she was in grade 12. She loved being in it, so how epic would that be to have it at her wedding? It totally suits her, especially since she loves drama and musical theatre.
I was also talking to another of my friends the other day about having dances, and we were discussing if it's necessary to have dances at weddings. I mean, what if you're not close to your father or he doesn't know how to dance or just doesn't want to dance? What if you can't really dance yourself? And is it mandatory to dance with other people, besides your husband and father? Will people be disappointed if there's no dance? I think I will probably have a dance, but these are questions we were pondering, my friend and I...
Also, I was thinking, if I have a dance, what song would I dance to? Maybe by that time, my husband and I will have a special song that is "ours" that we'd dance to, but since I have no fiancé, I also have no Song. Hmm... I was thinking maybe a classic like, "It's a Wonderful World." Or is that overdone? I don't know. I think it might be romantic... ;)
Anyhoo. That's all for now!

I Think I Should Become a Dress-ologist.

Ok, so I had a great time with Shell today and of course during our conversation over coffee (Oh, Starbucks, how great thou art-- those Caramel Frapps are delicious if you've never had them!! Anyways...) we talked about our futures: wedding rings, children's names, and of course dresses. Well, anyways, Shell told me about this site she found online - mjmweddings.com . Very cool site. They can even custom make you a dress!! Here are some pictures from the site of dresses I love...
And some custom dresses...

Not all of the dresses above are the style I would want exactly (and currently), but they are all gorgeous dresses, in my humble opinion. And here are some dresses I found from myweddingsales.com ...

I still really like the pouffy princess dress.

And a bridesmaid's dresses from myweddingsales.com --Love this one!!

Anyways, that's all for now. I have a ton of other pictures, but I'll upload them later.

Good night, world!!

Just a Quick Note...

Well, I don't have to much time to write anything, because I'm about to go out for coffee with my friend Shell. But, let me just say to my millions of readers (ha! Yeah, right) that I have some photos to post soon of some beautiful bridesmaid's dresses and some bride's dresses that I absolutely love. So... just be patient! :)

Ew, You Stink! Here, Have Some Flowers!

You know how earlier I was pondering the existance of the flower bouquet? Well I was reading on Wikipedia that

A wedding bouquet of flowers or roses is an idea that was brought up years ago and then became a tradition. In times of royal class, the upper class were the fortunate ones to have bathtubs in their homes. Even with the honor of having the bath, they rarely used them. The Lower class was unable to afford this necessity, bathing was not part of the routine, and obtaining bad odor was common. When an upper class bride walked down the aisle, she was required to hold a bouquet of roses or flowers to prevent body odor from spreading.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower_bouquet

Interesting, huh?

And How Do You Feel About That?

If you (or are) getting married, would you do marriage councelling? It sounds like a great idea to me. I only wonder what they do in marriage councelling... I heard that one of my friends' pastor tries to get the couple in arguments and sees how they solve them. Is that what all marriage councellors do? Or do they just talk about favourite colours and ask them personal questions? And what if the councellor sees that you two are actually not that compatable at all? Then what? Would they tell you? And if they did, how would you react?

Just some silly thoughts going through my head...

Bouquet Toss...

Ah, the wonderful bouquet toss. Would you toss your bouquet away? Or would you make it a different bouquet, and then keep your own bouquet to dry and have forever? My mom didn't keep her bouquet, but she did keep her flower crown, and she still has it, strung around a lamp in her bedroom. It's all shrivelled up, but it's still really cute. I don't know if I could throw my bouquet away. Perhaps? Maybe I'll have a mock-up one to throw...
Though, if you really think about it, what's the point of a bouquet? Where did the tradition come from?
Hmm... I might just research it sometime and tell you all of my findings!
Anyhoo, here are some pictures of bouquets I love!
There's something about tulips which I completely adore...!

LOVE this cascading one!

Very romantic!

And I love this pink one. Very pretty!!

A Good Bridesmaid...

This is who I'd currently pick to be my bridesmaids. These are all code names (ah- names, another obsession of mine), though. But they should know who they are...

MAID OF HONOUR:
My younger sister, Missie Hartley. (Blonde, medium height)

BRIDESMAIDS:
Shell Upton - one of my best friends from highschool, who I met in grade 8 in band. (Auburn-ish hair, petite)
Sydnee Brahms - my other best friend from highschool, who I met in grade 5 in band. (Brown hair, tall)
Leigha Miller - my bff, who I met a couple years ago at my church's youth camp. (Red hair, medium)
Acacia Bennet - a close friend who I met at my church's youth group in grade 10. (Blond-streaked brown hair, tall)
Abbey-Shae Berkley - a friend of mine who I met when I was in grade 6 at our church's pre-teen youth group, but didn't become close friends with until a couple years ago. (Brown hair, short-ish/medium)

LOVE YOU ALL!!!

The Dress

Ok, right now, I'm thinking that when I get married I want a flowy, chiffon-y, empire-waisted white dress. I went through a stage where I was SURE I wanted a princess-style, pouffy, beaded, lavish dress, but for the last little while I have fallen in love with the romantic look of the empire-waisted chiffon dress. Here are a few examples...

Ok, this first one, isn't exactly the empire-waisted, chiffon dress I just described above, but I think it's very beautiful!

Love these. Especially the one on the right. But they are both gorgeous!! I'm not TOTALLY in love with this one, but I still really, really like it.

This is the Post Where Most Introduce Themselves, Their Fiancés, Their Story...

Unfortunately, I'm not engaged. I don't even have a boyfriend. But I am OBSESSED with weddings. So I, crazily enough, decided to make a blog devoted to this unhealthy yet wonderful obsession.
So welcome to the Story of an Un-Engaged Young Adult who Dreams of a Perfect Wedding. Though, I guess, who doesn't dream of the perfect wedding? (Well, maybe those guys who sit infront of the Superbowl, guzzling beer and spilling chip crumbs on their stained T-shirts. But that's besides the point.) So in this blog, I will detail different aspects that I am thinking for my long-away wedding. None of them will probably ever happen, but a girl can dream, right?
