Bride-To-Be Sydnee's Ceremony-To-Be... and Other Updates

SO. I have quite a few wedding updates concerning Sydnee's wedding, since I last blogged. Today, the two of us headed to a local mall to see if there was anything there that could work as a bridesmaid dress, just to see. We want to try to avoid going to a bridal store and paying a bunch of money, though it might be unavoidable. I tried on two dresses at Le Chateau. One was a gorgeous blue, but the fabric was a bit too casual for a wedding. Then Syd made me try on a strapless dress. :P It actually wasn't too bad, though I'd be worried about having to keep pulling it up all day. It was cute, though. The colour was a little too green, but it was really pretty otherwise: fell to the knee, empire-waisted, the skirt was kind of made of a whole bunch of pleats, sweatheart neckline. We looked around the mall for other dresses, but there really wasn't anything. So we might have to suck it up and head to a bridal store. It won't hurt to look anyways.

After the mall, we headed to the location of her ceremony-to-be! Yes, this is most likely to be the one. All that they're waiting for is to be approved now (it's a park), though I think it unlikely that they wouldn't be. They've also picked a date, almost exactly a year from today, and a reception venue. It's so exciting. Now we can start the real planning. Or at least the fun stuff haha.

Anyways, here are some pictures she snapped with her iPhone:

The view! Isn't it gorgeous? The locale is actually amazing. It's on a mountain, really, and so it is surrounded by some stunning scenery. It is just breathtaking in person, and I think Acacia is going to be so thrilled to be shooting the wedding in such a gorgeous place. And to think, Sydnee found this place all on her own - she did gooooood. Haha. I'm just hoping it will be as beautiful a day on her wedding as it was today.

The rose garden where the ceremony will actually take place. It is sooooo beautiful, with fragrant roses everywhere. And no need for an arch! There's a built-in arch of roses! ;)

This is behind the grassy part, where all the chairs would be. (That's one thing we were trying to figure out - how does it all get set up the day of the wedding, when everyone is already occupied with getting ready? Ah, well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.)

Okay, what else? Oh, Sydnee also put together a binder, full of wedding planning stuff. I'm so proud of her. :) She found this awesome site that had a document to download, full of checklists and whatnot. If you want to check it out, it's at elegala.com . It's an AWESOME site. (I'm telling you, she's better at this wedding planning than I am haha!) So, yeah, we got together for coffee the other day and went through some things. We're going to try to get all the bridesmaids together sometime soon to actually make a plan, and discuss with Sydnee exactly what she wants her wedding to look like. Man, I'm so excited. This wedding planning stuff is so much fun; not just the kind of la-la-la-I'm-getting-married-eventually kind of planning that this blog has basically epitomized up til now, but the actual getting-to-the-real-essentials-planning.
... Man. I love weddings.
